Ward's goal lifts Wildcats past Chargers, 1-0

NEW LONDON, N.H. – Junior Izzy Ward scored her sixth goal of the season six-and-a-half minutes into the second half to propel the JWU-Providence field hockey team to a 1-0 win at Colby-Sawyer College Saturday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at Shally Saw Veitch Field.

Senior Mackenzie Wolf picked up an assist on the lone marker of the match as the Wildcats remained perfect on the season at 5-0 (3-0 GNAC). JWU – which held a 12-2 edge in shots – received one save from freshman Sophia Brea.

On the JWU goal, graduate student Margaret Johnson inserted the ball on a penalty corner for the Wildcats to Wolf, who played the ball towards the net. Ward gathered the ball, spun and knocked it home.
