Softball blanks Dean in a pair of GNAC wins

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Johnson & Wales (RI) University softball team scored a pair of wins over Dean College Saturday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) softball action at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletic Complex.

Game One: Wildcats 8, Bulldogs 0 (6 inn.)
Freshman Jadyn Torres laced a double and a triple, and drove in four runs while classmate Mady Lyons went 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles and four RBI. Graduate student Jill Pulek, junior Hailey Erickson, and sophomore Mackenzie Clee all picked up two hits for JWU. Graduate student Livia Feole scattered four hits and fanned three to earn her second win of the season.

Game Two: Wildcats 9, Bulldogs 0 (5 inn.)
Erickson picked up three hits and three RBI as the Wildcats improved to 4-0 lifetime against the Bulldogs and 18-7 on the season (7-1 GNAC). Amorelli had two hits and scored twice for JWU, which scored seven times in the fourth to break the game open. The frame was highlighted by a two-run single from Erickson, an RBI single off the bat of Pulek, and a sac fly from sophomore Hailey Martins. Junior Sage Borkowski allowed four hits and three out three to record her sixth win of 2023.
