Bats stay hot as baseball takes two from Chargers

NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Johnson & Wales (RI) University baseball team took two games from Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) rival Colby-Sawyer College Saturday afternoon at Kelsey Field.

Game One: Wildcats 8, Chargers 2
Juniors EJ Leone and Jack Magane, and sophomore Trevor Juan, each recorded three hits and one RBI for the Wildcats. Leone and classmate Thorin Sanchez-Guerra both laced RBI doubles while Magane, Juan, and sophomore Owen Davis all had run-scoring singles. Graduate student Kyle Cutler allowed six hits and two runs over seven in moving to 4-2 on the season. He walked one and struck out a pair.

 Game Two: Wildcats 15, Chargers 1
Leone went 3-for-4 with four RBI and three runs scored, highlighted by a two-run single in a five-run first inning for the Wildcats. Davis went 3-for-6 with three RBI – including a two-run single in the sixth – while junior Riley Hasson smacked a two-run double and scored three runs, and both Juan and junior Xavier Botelho notched two hits. Freshman Elijah Barber surrendered five hits and two runs to go with two walks and five strikeouts in 5.2 innings of work for his second win of the season.
