PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Junior Katie Sloan scored four goals to lead Johnson & Wales (RI) University's 19-11 win over Emmanuel (MA) College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's lacrosse action Wednesday afternoon at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletic Complex.
Junior Maris DiBeneditto added five goals and three helpers for the Wildcats (8-2), who remained unbeaten in conference play at 8-0. Senior Taina Gamory potted four goals while senior Margaret Johnson collected three points on two goals and an assist, and also won seven draw controls.
The Wildcats held a 12-7 lead at the break behind four goals from Sloan and three from DiBeneditto. JWU put the game away in the fourth by outscoring the Saints 4-1 as both Sloan and DiBeneditto racked up a goal and an assist in the final stanza.
Sophomore Emma Glyman stopped nine shots to improve to 8-2 on the season. JWU forced 27 turnovers and Gamory and sophomore Isabella Nugent each caused three.
