CHICOPEE, Mass. – The Johnson & Wales (RI) University softball team swept its Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) doubleheader at Elms College Sunday afternoon at Holyoke High School.
Game One: Wildcats 21, Blazers 0 (5 inn.)
Junior Hailey Erickson went 4-for-4 with four RBI as all nine JWU starters reached base safely. Senior Alexis Falcigno plated four runs on three hits while graduate student Jill Pulek recorded three hits, scored three times and drove in a pair. Junior Julia Huzi and sophomore Hailey Martins both collected two RBI to back senior starting pitcher Livia Feole. She scattered five hits over five innings of work to go with a pair of strikeouts en route to his first win of 2023.
Game Two: Wildcats 5, Blazers 0
Erickson collected two more hits, including an RBI single to highlight a three-run first inning for the Wildcats. Senior Jessica Rynne picked up an RBI single in the seventh while graduate student Megan Antaya racked up two hits in support of junior starting pitcher Sage Borkowski, who held the Blazers to two hits and struck out three to moved to 5-2 on the season.
