WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Junior Brent Rickett scored four goals in Johnson & Wales (RI) University's 11-9 loss at the University of Saint Joseph (CT) Tuesday evening in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) men's lacrosse action at the USJ Athletic Complex.
Senior Andrew Vasile added three assists and classmate Alex Padula scored twice for the Wildcats (10-4, 5-3 GNAC), who also received goal and an assist from graduate student Joe McIntyre.
Padula broke an eight-all tie with up goal late in the third to give JWU a one-goal lead. They held the lead for the first half of the fourth before the Blue Jays tied the game with 6:04 remaining in regulation, then took the lead 1:57 later. USJ added an insurance marker with 41 seconds to go.
The Wildcats outshot the home team 50-35 and forced 23 turnovers. Sophomore goaltender Trent Madigan was credited with nine saves while senior Mike Catuosco collected 16 ground balls and caused four turnovers.
