WESTON, Mass. – The Johnson & Wales (RI) University softball team swept a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) doubleheader against Regis (MA) College Sunday afternoon at the Regis Softball Field.
Game One: Wildcats 6, Pride 1
Graduate student Jill Pulek plated two with a double in the fifth, and junior Hailey Erickson and sophomore Caroline Amorelli each collected RBI singles for the Wildcats. Erickson finished the contest with three hits and two RBI while graduate student Megan Antaya also knocked in a run with a double in the seventh. Graduate student Livia Feole picked up her second win in as many days, this one in relief of sophomore starter Mackenzie Clee. Feole allowed two hits and one run over five to improve to 5-3 on the season.
Game Two: Wildcats 3, Pride 0
Junior Julia Huzi plated the only run the Wildcats would need with a sac fly in the fifth that scored Antaya. Huzi later scored on an RBI groundout from Erickson, and Huzi's second sac fly of the afternoon in the seventh brought in the third JWU run. Pulek, Amorelli, and Antaya all registered two hits to back sophomore Katie Scheid, who fanned seven in seven innings of work to move to 11-2.
