AUBURNDALE, Fla. – The Johnson & Wales (RI) University softball team dropped a pair of games to Heidelberg University and Lebanon Valley College Thursday in non-conference action at the Auburndale Sports Complex.
Game One: Heidelberg 5, JWU 3
Junior Hailey Erickson singled home a run in the fourth and freshman Mady Lyons roped a two-run single in the sixth for the Wildcats, who allowed three runs in the bottom of the sixth. Sophomore Caroline Amorelli finished the contest 2-for-3 with a double and one run scored. Junior Sage Borkowski allowed six hits and four runs to go with four walks and three strikeouts in five innings of work to fall to 2-1 on the season.
Game Two: Lebanon Valley 9, JWU 6
Graduate student Jill Pulek went 2-for-4 with a solo home run while sophomore Mackenzie Clee collected three hits and an RBI, and classmate Danielle Floyd 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Lyons plated a run with an RBI single in the fifth for JWU (5-3), which committed four errors. Sophomore Katie Scheid took the loss as she was tagged for 12 hits and eight earned runs over 4.2 innings. She walked a pair and struck out four.
