HENNIKER, N.H. – Senior Alex Padula and junior Hayden Haldane each scored twice in Johnson & Wales (RI) University's 9-8 win at New England College Wednesday afternoon in non-conference men's lacrosse action at Don Melander Field.
Graduate student Joe McIntyre and senior Andrew Vasile both added a goal and two assists for the Wildcats (5-1) while Donny McInnis dished out a pair of assists. Sophomore Trent Madigan turned aside 15 shots between the pipes for JWU to move to 5-1 on the season.
The Wildcats trailed 7-6 after three before ripping off three-straight to open the fourth and grab a 9-7 lead. Padula's second of the day with 10:27 remaining brought JWU to within one at 9-8 before Vasile knotted the game at nine on a feed from McIntyre.
Later, Marcinko's second tally of the season at 5:16 gave the Wildcats their first lead since early in the first quarter and proved to be the game-winner. He also finished with five ground balls.
JWU closed the game with a 46-35 edge in shots. Senior Mike Catuosco went 15-of-20 at the X and collected 13 ground balls.
