Men's Lacrosse cruises to 16-5 win over Pride in GNAC opener

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Senior Alex Padula registered eight points on five goals and three assists in Johnson & Wales (RI) University's 16-5 win over Regis (MA) College Saturday morning in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) men's lacrosse action at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletic Complex.

Senior Andrew Vasile tallied five points (2-3-5) and sophomore Donny McInnis chipped in with four points (2-2-4) for the Wildcats, who improved to 4-1 with the win (1-0 GNAC). Junior Brent Rickett picked up a hat trick in just his third collegiate game for JWU while junior Hayden Haldane scored twice in his first contest; both are members of the Wildcats men's ice hockey program.

After falling behind 1-0 midway through the first, the Wildcats ripped off 14 unanswered goals – 10 of which came in the first half – to build a comfortable lead. Sophomore and starting goalkeeper Trent Madigan finished the contest with seven saves before being lifted in the third in favor of freshman Chris April, who registered five saves.

Senior Mike Catuosco went 15-of-21 at the X and racked up 14 ground balls.
