PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Senior Taina Gamory scored three goals in Johnson & Wales (RI) University's 18-4 loss to MIT Saturday afternoon in the women's lacrosse season opener for both schools at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletic Complex.
Junior Katie Sloan also found the back of the net for the Wildcats while senior Margaret Johnson registered seven draw controls and caused a pair of turnovers. Sophomore and reigning Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Goalkeeper of the Year Emma Glyman recorded nine saves for JWU, which was outshot 34-11.
Graduate student Ashley Tramonte and sophomore Neely Connor each collected two ground balls for the Wildcats.
The game – the duration of which was played during a light snowfall – was called with 6:52 remaining in the fourth quarter due to slippery field conditions.
