Polar Bears score twice in third to down Wildcats, 3-2

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Senior Leah White made 46 saves in JWU-Providence's 3-2 loss to Bowdoin College Saturday afternoon in non-conference women's ice hockey action at the New England Sports Village.

Graduate student Sara Cruise and sophomore Kylie O'Keefe found the back of the net for the Wildcats, who were outshot 49-22 and managed to kill off seven of Bowdoin's eight power-play chances.

JWU grabbed a 2-1 lead late in the first with goals 1:05 apart. Sophomore Zoe Tow let go of a shot that was stopped, but O'Keefe knocked in the rebound for her first of the season. Cruise followed with a wrister over the glove hand of Polar Bears netminder Sarah Peterson.

Following a scoreless second, the Polar Bears outshot the Wildcats 18-6 in the third and collected the tying goal with 10:15 remaining in regulation. Maddie Montanaro potted the eventual game-winner 2:11 later.
