BOSTON, Mass. – The
JWU-Providence men's basketball team was defeated by Emmanuel (MA) College 73-58 Saturday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (
GNAC) women's basketball action at the Jean
Yawkey Center.
Graduate student
Aireus Raspberry led the Wildcats with 18 points while senior
Sean Duke added 15 points and junior
Josh Zangerle netted nine. JWU outrebounded the Saints 39-35 behind seven from junior
Jonah Phang and six from Raspberry, Duke, and freshman
Ammiel Mumford.
JWU trailed by six at halftime (35-29) as Raspberry paced the visitors with 11 points. The Wildcats outrebounded the Saints 21-20 and shot 36 percent from the field (12-of-33) compared to 37 percent for the home team.
The Saints caught fire offensively in the second half as they canned 54 percent of their shots behind Donte Pope, who scored 14 of his game-high 24 points over the final 20. JWU, meanwhile, knocked down 10-of-28 from the field (35 percent).
