Aireus Raspberry led four JWU-Providence student-athletes in double figures with 21 points in a 73-63 win over the University of Hartford Thursday night in non-conference men's basketball action at the Wildcat Center.
Raspberry also registered the stat sheet with six assists, six boards and six dimes while junior
Josh Zangerle added 16 points, five boards and four steals. Sophomore
Izaiah Shaw-Glen chipped in with 14 points and seven rebounds as the Wildcats outrebounded the Hawks 39-34 and rattled home 13-of-15 from the charity stripe.
Junior
Jonah Phang filled the stat sheet with six points, seven boards, three blocks and two steals for the Wildcats, who also received 11 points and five boards from senior
Sean Duke. Classmate
Mike Rogers chipped in with five points off the bench.
JWU led by five at the break (37-32), shooting 42 percent through the first 20 minutes. Raspberry led the home team with 10 points while Zangerle went for nine and both Duke and Shaw-Glen had six. The Wildcats stepped up defensively in the second half, holding the Hawks to 33 percent shooting and turned six turnovers into seven points.
The Wildcats took case of the ball throughout the contest as they committed just six turnovers.
