Josh Zangerle led four JWU-Providence student-athletes in double-figures with 21 points in a 78-42 win over Elms College Saturday afternoon in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) opener for both at the Wildcat Center.
Zangerle canned five triples in 34minutes of action for the Wildcats (2-3, 1-0 GNAC), who also received 18 points, 10 boards, and four steals from graduate student
Aireus Raspberry. Sophomore
Izaiah Shaw-Glen went for 12 points and seven boards while junior
Jonah Phang filled the stat sheet with 10 points, eight boards and five blocks.
The Wildcats shot 50 percent from the field (33-of-66) – including 42 percent from downtown (8-of-19) – and held a 46-30 edge on the glass. JWU outscored Elms 40-12 in the paint and converted 18 Blazer turnovers into 19 points.
