Men's basketball defeated by Va. Wesleyan, Averett

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The JWU-Providence men's basketball team played a pair of games at Virginia Wesleyan University this past weekend. The Wildcats were defeated by the Marlins 78-45 on Saturday before suffering a 56-38 loss to Averett University.

Marlins 78, Wildcats 45
Junior Izaiah Shaw-Glen paced the Wildcats with 12 points to go with seven boards. Classmate Josh Zangerle and freshman Symien Jemison each dropped in 11 points; Zangerle snared seven boards and Jemison pulled down nine. The Marlins knocked down 45 percent of their shots and outrebounded JWU 47-37. JWU shot 32 percent from the floor and made 1-of-8 from the charity stripe.

Cougars 56, Wildcats 38
Senior Sean Duke led JWU with eight points and eight rebounds, while Zangerle added seven points and graduate student Aireus Raspberry netted six points. The Wildcats shot 34 percent compared to 43 percent for the Cougars.
