No. 9 Elmira defeats Wildcats in women's hockey

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Junior Harmony Chicoose scored her first goal of the season for the JWU-Providence women's hockey team in an 11-1 loss to No. 11 Elmira College Friday night in New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) action at the New England Sports Village.

Classmate Reese Middendorf collected an assist on the goal, going end-to-end before sliding the puck to Chicoose just before time expired in the third period. The Wildcats – who were outshot 55-15 – trailed 2-0 after one before allowing four goals in a span of 1:37 early in the second period to put themselves in a 6-0 hole.

Chicoose and Middendorf combined to block seven shots for JWU, which received 30 saves from junior Sofia Tamayo in relief of senior starter Leah White.

Graduate student Claire Meeder and junior Erika Goleniak each collected two goals and an assist for the Soaring Eagles while senior Madi Morton handed out four apples.
