ATTLEBORO, Mass. – The JWU-Providence women's ice hockey team opened the 2023-24 campaign with a 3-2 loss to Curry College Friday night in non-conference action at the New England Sports Village.

Jianna Truppi scored first-period goals for the Wildcats, who were outshot 34-26 on the evening. Junior netminder
Sofia Tamayo turned aside 31 shots, including 26 over the final 40 minutes.
JWU scored twice in the opening 7:11 of the contest to stake the home team to a 2-0 lead. Grayson Goolgasian cut Curry's deficit in half midway through the stanza before tying the contest 1:41 into the second. The visitors went in front for good on a goal from Tommi Nash at 2:26 of the third.
