ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Junior Brendan Shandley scored his sixth goal of the season in Johnson & Wales (RI) University's 3-1 loss to No. 12 Babson University Friday night in New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) action at New England Sports Village.
Sophomore Jacob Perrin turned aside 43 shots for the Wildcats, who were outshot 46-20 by the Beavers. Junior Connor Blanchard was credited with an assist on Shandley's marker, which came at 15:13 of the second period and knotted the game at one.
The Beavers outshot JWU 12-7 in the first period and scored the only goal of the stanza at 4:17. In the second, Shandley capitalized on a turnover in the Babson end when wrister beat senior goalie Nolan Hildenbrand over the blocker.
Freshman Ryan Murphy potted the GWG with 6:56 remaining in the third before he polished off a hat trick with an empty-netter at 19:43. The Beavers finished the night with a 46-20 advantage in shots and 1-for-4 on the PP. JWU went 0-1 with the man advantage.
