UNION, N.J. – The Johnson & Wales (RI) University women's volleyball team suffered a pair of non-conference losses at Kean University on Saturday at Harwood Arena, falling 3-2 to the Cougars before suffering a 3-1 setback to New Paltz.
Match one: Kean 3, JWU 2
Sophomore Masina Tupea racked up a match-high 18 kills to go with 15 digs for the Wildcats. Junior Peyton Oliver notched 17 kills and closed with a .481 hitting pct. while junior Sarah Miller registered a double-double with 15 kills and 20 digs. Sophomore Kyra Hissner dished out 57 assists for JWU, which dropped the five-setter 25-23, 27-25, 25-19, 31-29, 10-15.
Match two: New Paltz 3, JWU 1
Oliver paced the Wildcats with 15 kills (.278 hitting pct.) to go with nine digs while Tupea finished with six kills and freshman Daniela Rank notched four. Hissner led JWU with 16 digs and handed out 25 assists while Miller finished with nine digs and six kills. The Wildcats won the first set 25-23 before dropping the next three 25-19, 25-21, 25-19.
