PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Johnson & Wales (RI) University women's volleyball team split its Saturday tri-match with RIT and Babson, first taking down the Tigers 3-0 before falling to the Beavers 3-0 in non-conference action at the Wildcat Center.
Match one: JWU 3, RIT 0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-21)
Junior Sarah Miller racked up nine kills and seven digs while both junior Peyton Oliver and sophomore Masina Tupea each picked up seven kills. Sophomore Kyra Hissner handed out 24 assists to go with four service aces, senior Emily Corbett registered a match-high 12 digs, and graduate student Amanda Koch went for five kills. The win was the first at JWU for first-year head coach Michael Houlihan.
Match two: Babson 3, JWU 0 (18-25, 17-25, 22-25)
Miller threw down a match-high 11 kills and Oliver collected seven. Hissner filled the stat sheet with 17 assists, four digs, and three kills while Corbett was credited with 16 digs.
