WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Freshman Zofia Bangs scored the game-winning goal late in the first half to give the Johnson & Wales (RI) University field hockey team a 3-1 win over the University of Saint Joseph Saturday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at the USJ Field Hockey Field.
Sophomore Darian Shepherd collected a goal and an assist for the Wildcats (6-0, 2-0 GNAC), who outshot the Blue Jays 20-2 and held a 21-1 edge in penalty corners. Senior Margaret Johnson added an insurance marker early in the third quarter for JWU and classmate Madison Flaxington played all 60 minutes in goal, recording the win without having to make a save.
