PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Senior Margaret Johnson picked up her first collegiate hat trick in Johnson & Wales (RI) University's 7-0 shutout of Bridgewater State University Wednesday night in non-conference action at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletic Complex.
Sophomore Izzy Ward chipped in with a goal and an assist for the Wildcats, who moved to 5-0 on the season with the win. Graduate student Jillian Miele dished out a pair of assists while junior Mya Bolk, sophomore Isabell O'Hara, and freshman Zofia Bangs also found the back of the net for JWU.
Johnson's natural hat trick came in the first 16:35 of the contest and staked the home team to a 3-0 lead. JWU then truck for five goals in the second quarter – including the first of the season from Bolk and O'Hara – to make it 8-0 and cap the scoring.
Senior Madison Flaxington played the first half in net for the Wildcats and did not record a save in the win. Junior Daisy Sharrow and sophomore Rebecca Johnson played the third and fourth quarter, respectively, and preserved the shutout. Johnson tallied two saves.
