PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Johnson & Wales (RI) University women's volleyball team split its Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) tri-match Saturday afternoon on Homecoming Weekend at the Wildcat Center, rallying from a 3-0 loss to Simmons College to defeat Elms College 3-0.
Prior to the match, JWU recognized its graduating class of 2023 – Amanda Koch, Emily Corbett, Sibel Truong, Halle Medici, and Elle Raviv – and honored them for their contributions to the program.
Match One: Simmons 3, JWU 0 (25-15, 25-21, 28-26)
Junior Peyton Oliver registered 10 kills (.292 hitting pct.) for the Wildcats. Classmate Sarah Miller picked up nine kills and six digs while freshman Daniela Rank notched five kills and three blocks and senior Emily Corbett tallied 19 digs.
Match Two: JWU 3, Elms 0 (25-18, 25-16, 25-21)
Miller recorded a double-double with 15 digs and 11 kills (.435 hitting pct.). Oliver tallied a team-high 16 kills (.538 hitting pct.) while sophomore Isabella Alfonso added eight. Truong handed out a season-high 20 assists, sophomore Kyra Hissner had 12 assists, and Corbett collected 21 digs.
