NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Graduate student Jillian Miele picked up a hat trick in Johnson & Wales (RI) University's 7-0 win at Albertus Magnus University Wednesday evening in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) field hockey action at Celentano Field.
Senior Mackenzie Wolf added a pair of goals for the Wildcats, who moved to 10-0 with the win (5-0 GNAC). Sophomore Darian Shepherd and freshman Kaitlyn Freeman chipped in with goals for JWU while senior Madison Flaxington, junior Daisy Sharrow, and freshman Rebecca Johnson all saw time in goal for head coach Lisa Lopes.
Wolfe, Miele, and Freeman each scored goals in the opening quarter to stake the visitors to a 3-0 lead. Miele's second of the match in the second pushed the score to 4-0 at the break before polishing off the hat trick early in the fourth.
JWU outshot Albertus Magnus 40-0.
