PAXTON, Mass. – Graduate student Jillian Miele wrapped the regular season with a goal and an assist in Johnson & Wales (RI) University's 3-0 win at Anna Maria College Wednesday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) field hockey action at Caparso Field.
Senior Margaret Johnson and freshman Zofia Bangs added goals for the Wildcats (16-1, 11-0 GNAC), who enter the GNAC Tournament as the No. 1 seed and will host the University of Saint Joseph (CT) on Saturday at noon.
Following a scoreless first half which saw JWU outshoot the AMCats 14-0, Johnson broke the scoreless tie 2:16 into the third quarter with her 12th goal of the season. Bangs eighth goal of the season later in the stanza doubled the lead before Miele capped the scoring with her 23rd early in the fourth.
Senior Madison Flaxington did not record a save as her record improved to 16-1.
