PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Senior Margaret Johnson recorded her second hat trick of the season in No. 1 seed Johnson & Wales (RI) University's 5-0 shutout win over No. 8 University of Saint Joseph (CT) Saturday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Field Hockey Quarterfinal action at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletic Complex.
Graduate student Jillian Miele assisted on all five goals for the Wildcats (17-1), who will host a GNAC Semifinal game on Wednesday against No. 4 Colby-Sawyer College. Juniors Katie Sloan and Mya Bolk also found their way onto the scoresheet for JWU, which outshot the Blue Jays 29-0.

She doubled the JWU lead 18 minutes later off a penalty corner when senior Kaitlyn Freeman slid the ball to Miele, who then fed Johnson for her 14th goal of the season. Sloan pushed the lead to 3-0 with a shot that went high into the corner to close the first-half scoring.
Johnson polished off the hat trick 1:03 into the second half before Bolk's third goal of 2022 extended the JWU lead to 5-0. Senior Madison Flaxington moved to 17-1 with the win.
