PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Graduate student Nick Gutekunst scored a pair of goals in Johnson & Wales (RI) University's 4-0 win over Anna Maria College Wednesday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) men's soccer action at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletic Complex.
The Wildcats – who debuted in the United Coaches Association poll at No. 6 this week in the Region 1 rankings – also received goals from senior Quinton Kramarck and freshman Carlos Andrade as they improved to 11-1-2 on the season (7-0-1 GNAC). The win extended their home unbeaten streak to 33 matches (30-0-3), dating back to 2019.
JWU outshot the AMCats 23-2 and scored the only goal it would need 5:41 into the match when Gutekunst worked his way around a defender and buried a shot into the lower left corner. Goals from Andrade at 12:51 and Kramarch at 37:46 sent the Wildcats into halftime up three before Gutekunst capped the scoring at 80:00.
Senior Jacob Friedman played the first half and did not record a save to earn his ninth win of the season. Graduate student Brandon Coder played the second half in net and recorded one save.
