PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Johnson & Wales (RI) University women's volleyball team split its tri-match Saturday afternoon at the Wildcat Center, defeating Regis (MA) College 3-0 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action before dropping a 3-0 match to non-conference foe Salve Regina.
Match One: JWU 3, Regis (MA) 0 (25-22, 25-23, 25-19)
Freshman Amanda Koch racked up nine kills and finsihed with an outstanding hitting pct. of .533 to go along with five blocks. Junior and reigning Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Week Peyton Oliver had eight kills, five digs, and two blocks while classmate Sarah Miller filled the stat sheet with 11 kills, 10 digs, two blocks and two service aces. Sophomore Kyra Hissner handed out 31 assists and notched 12 digs while senior Emily Corbett picked up 14 digs.
Match Two: Salve Regina 3, JWU 0 (29-27, 25-18, 25-19)
Oliver paced the Wildcats with nine kills while sophomore Masina Tupea registered six (.353 hitting pct.). Miller collected seven kills, seven digs, and a pair of service aces, sophomore Savannah Cambell dished out 19 assists, and Corbett tallied 18 digs.
