The Johnson & Wales men's soccer team fell to the Cadets of Norwich College on Friday night, losing in overtime 1-0 after playing to a 0-0 tie in regular time. The Wildcats suffered their first loss of the season and fell to 5-1 (2-1 GNAC) while the Cadets improved to 4-1 (2-1 GNAC).
The lone goal came in the first minute of the overtime period from Nowich's Joseph Thongsythavong. He was able to latch onto a corner kick that he headed back towards the right boat of the net, where Jacob Friedman (Woodland Hills, Calif.) was able to get a tip on the ball, but not enough to keep it out.
The Wildcats were outshot 15-12 on the night by the Cadets, and Friedman had five saves on six shots on target. Chuckie Tenbusch (Williamsburg, Va.) had two shots on target for Johnson & Wales.
The Wildcats next game is a conference matchup at Anaa Maria on Wednesday, starting at 4:00pm.
