PROVIDENCE - The Johnson & Wales softball team traveled across town to take on Division I Brown University on Sunday afternoon. The Bears earned a 2-0 victory over the Wildcats.

The Bears, playing in their first game of the 2021 season, hopped out to the early lead in the first inning. The leadoff hitter Nicole Kim scored on a triple by Katie O'Leary before O'Leary was able to take home on a double steal. Wildcat starter Summer Ramundo allowed just two hits in three innings of work before first-year Sage Borkowski gave up three hits in the final three frames in the circle.
Julia Huzi singled in back-to-back innings for JWU, including a base knock up the middle in the second inning that loaded the bases. The Wildcats had a pair of singles in the 6th but couldn't capitalize as the Bears went on to shutout JWU 2-0.
