The Johnson & Wales Men's Soccer team defeated the St Joseph (CT) Blue Jays on Saturday afternoon, improving to 13-3-0 (9-2 GNAC) while the Blue Jays fell to 10-4-1 (7-4-1 GNAC).
The teams played to a scoreless first half, with the Wildcats taking four shots and the Blue Jays taking three. Both teams had one corner kick opportunity in the first half.
In the second half, the Wildcats dominated the proceedings, with a 9-2 shot advantage in the half. The lone goal of the match came in the 77th minute when JP Rioux (Stony Point, N.Y.) scored his 11th goal of the season in an unassisted effort, giving the Wildcats the lead which they held through the remainder of the match.
Jacob Friedman (Woodland Hills, Calif.) earned a shut out in net for the Wildcats, marking his 11th win of the season with four saves.
Johnson & Wales gets back in action on Wednesday when they welcome the Rivier Raiders to the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletic Complex for their regular season finale, with kickoff at 7:00pm.
