NORMAN, Okla. – In addition to being a major contributor to one of the top NCAA Division III programs in the northeast, Hunter DiLorenzo is also an academic standout for the Johnson & Wales University men's golf team. He was recognized for his efforts both on the course and in the classroom as a Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar award from the Golf Coaches Association of America.
A native of Boxborough, Mass., DiLorenzo is just the second player in program history to earn the honor, joining JWU Hall of Famer Bobby Newcomb '09.
To be eligible for the award, an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior academically. In addition, they must have a stroke-average under 79.0 and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2, DiLorzen has a 3.58 gpa in finance.
This season DiLorenzo ranked second on the team with a 76.2 average. He fired a career-low 71 on the second day of the NEIGA Championship to finish tied for fifth and earn GNAC Golfer of the Week honors. A week early, he fired a career-best 146 to finish one stroke back at the GNAC Championship.
