THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Back on the court for the first time in two weeks, the Johnson & Wales University men's volleyball team traveled to the West Coast for the Cal-Lu-Fornia Classic, hosted by Cal Lutheran. The Wildcats opened with a 3-1 (25-23, 23-25, 25-21, 30-28) win over St. John Fisher. JWU lost its second match, 3-0 (25-18, 25-12, 25-16) to UC Santa Cruz.

Of Note:
Johnson & Wales was stout at the net in the opening match, recording 16 blocks. That limited the Cardinals – who are receiving votes in the AVCA national poll - to a .168 hitting percentage.

Four different Wildcats had five or more blocks, led by Donovan Kelley's eight rejections. Dondre Crump was next at seven.

The JWU offense ran through outside hitters Jack Pincince and Sanjae Holloway. Pincince had a team-high 17 kills, including one at 28-28 in the fourth set to give JWU the lead. Keiron Jeremiah and Cameron Ponce ended the match with a block.

The Banana Slugs were tough offensively, hitting .434 with a 34-27 advantage in digs.

Back in his home state, Kelly led the way offensively against UCSC, hitting .500 with eight kills.
