Wildcats Fall 3-2 at Lasell

Box Score

NEWTON, Mass. – The Johnson & Wales University men's volleyball let one slip away Tuesday night. The Wildcats were up two sets at Lasell, but lost to the Lasers, 3-2 (25-18, 25-20, 22-25, 23-25, 16-18).

Record:
Lasell: 10-11, 4-3 GNAC
Johnson & Wales: 13-7, 3-2 GNAC

Statistical Leaders:
Sanjae Holloway (JWU): 11 kills, 6 digs
Nick Bitetto (JWU): 20 digs
Ben Sandt (JWU): 26 assists, 11 digs

Of Note:
The Wildcats were rolling after the first two sets. JWU played good defense in the opening two stanzas as it held the Lasers to just five kills in each set.

In the third set, the Wildcats rallied within 23-22, but couldn't complete the comeback. Set four was tied at 23-23, but a JWU service error and Lasell kill forced a fifth set.

Set five featured seven ties, including 16-16 on a Josh Pitzer kill. Unfortunately, the Wildcats gave away the match with back-to-back errors.

Rookie Ben Sandt recorded his first collegiate double-double with 26 assists and 11 digs. Cameron Ponce just missed a triple-double with 19 assists, 14 digs and eight kills.

Up Next:
JWU is back on the court Saturday, hosting Wentworth at 11 am followed by Medgar Evers at 3 p.m.
