Wildcats Sweep GNAC Doubleheader

NEWTON, Mass. – It was a back and forth afternoon for the Johnson & Wales University men's volleyball team. The Wildcats won for the sixth time in seven matches as they beat Lasell 3-2 (22-25, 25-16, 17-25, 25-13, 15-12) after topping Mount Ida 3-0 (25-13, 25-17, 25-12).

Of Note:
It was up and down against Lasell as the Wildcats hit over .300 in all three sets they won, but couldn't replicate that in the other two. JWU found itself down 8-7 in the fifth set, but the Lasers cracked under the pressure. Four of JWU's final eight points came from LC errors. JWU hit .266 while limiting Lasell to .199.

Senior Matt LaVasseur had a career day, posting a personal-best 17 kills to go along with five blocks. Also posting double-digit kills was Sanjae Holloway with 12 winners and Zach Turner chipped in 10. Setter Endel Sanchez recorded his third double-double of the year with a career-high 46 assists and 13 digs.

The Wildcats had no problems disposing of the Mustangs in their opener. Johnson & Wales recorded 37 digs and eight blocks to hold Mount Ida to a -.096 hitting percentage. The offense was spread across the board with Kanila Chang leading the way with seven kills. Libero Alex Seda had a match-high 12 digs.
