ROCHESTER, NY – The Johnson & Wales University men's volleyball team ran into a pair of tough offensive teams Friday on day one of the Golden Flyer Invitational. JWU took the first set off Wells, before falling 3-1 (25-13, 13-25, 19-25, 20-25). The Wildcats lost the nightcap 3-0 (13-25, 20-25, 20-25) to Cal Lutheran.

Sanjae Holloway (JWU): 14 kills, 4 blocks
Cameron Ponce (JWU): 10 kills, 11 assists, 11 digs

Of Note:  
The Wildcats got out to a strong start, defeating the Express thanks to a .500 hitting percentage. Wells turned the tables in set two, hitting .611. A Donovan Kelley kill pulled JWU within 20-22 in the fourth set, but Wells sealed the victory thanks to a trio of JWU errors.

Setter Cameron Ponce recorded the program's first triple-double in two years with 10 kills, 11 assists and 11 digs. He had JWU's last triple-double on January 23, 2016 against Endicott. Sanjae Holloway led all players with 14 kills.

The Kingsman were nearly flawless in the opening set, hitting .800 with no attacking errors. Cal Lutheran hit .507 for the match. Johnson & Wales hit .520 in the third set and cut the lead to 22-19 on a Holloway kill before the Kingsman regrouped.

Holloway and Ponce tied for the team lead with seven kills each. Kanila Chang and Matt LaVasseur were one behind.
