Wildcats Lose 3-1 at Endicott

BEVERLY, Mass. – A third-set rally swung the momentum from the Johnson & Wales University men's volleyball team to host Endicott. The Gulls defeated the Wildcats, 3-1 (21-25, 25-21, 22-25, 15-25) on Tuesday.

Johnson & Wales: 3-6

Of Note:  
After dropping the first set, the Wildcats rallied to take set two. Endicott pulled within 21-19, but the hosts committed a pair of errors then JWU got kills from Sanjae Holloway and Donovan Kelley for the victory. JWU squandered a 21-17 lead in the third set to give the hosts a 2-1 advantage.

Johnson & Wales had a diverse offense as five players had five or more kills. Leading the way was junior Kelley with 10. Kelley was also JWU's top blocker with six rejections. Setter Cameron Ponce handed out 27 assists and added a match-high 15 digs for his third double-double of the year.

While the Wildcats had a 10-5 advantage in blocks, Endicott's back row defense made the difference. The Gulls had a 57-44 digs margin, which translated to the Wildcats hitting just .140 while the hosts hit .222. Endicott also had eight aces to JWU's one.

The Wildcats start conference action on Tuesday when they host Rivier at 7 p.m.
