Box Score PROVIDENCE, RI – The Johnson & Wales University men's volleyball team gave it their best effort, but couldn't upset top-ranked Springfield College on Tuesday night. The Wildcats dropped a 3-0 (23-25, 12-25, 15-25) contest.

JWU fought back from a 19-16 deficit to tie the first set at 23-23 on a Springfield service error. However, the Wildcats committed a pair of miscues themselves to give SC the set. JWU was down 9-6 in set two before the Pride went on an 11-2 run on their way to winning the set.
Leading the Wildcats was junior Donovan Kelley (Encinitas, Calif.) with a half dozen kills while Sanjae Holloway (East Harford, Conn.) was one behind.
Springfield's offense was too much for the Wildcats as they outhit JWU, .392-.033. The Pride also had a 26-15 advantage in digs. Leading all players was Sergio Figueroa Velez with 10 kills while Ricardo Padilla Ayala had nine winners and a .533 hitting percentage.
