Wildcats Clip Falcons 3-0

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Battling to host a first round GNAC Tournament match next week, the Johnson & Wales University men's volleyball team stayed on track with a victory on Thursday. The Wildcats made quick work of Albertus Magnus in a 3-0 victory (25-16, 25-19, 25-16).

Johnson & Wales: 15-13, 7-5 GNAC
Albertus Magnus:
5-14, 0-2 GNAC

Of Note:
The Falcons never really threatened, only getting as close as four points during the last half of each set. Albertus Magnus pulled to within 23-19 in the second set but committed a pair of errors to give Johnson & Wales the set. Middle blocker Donovan Kelley (Encinitas, Calif.) served six-straight points to start the third set as the Wildcats finished off the match.

Johnson & Wales went on the offensive attack to beat the Falcons. The Wildcats held a .185-to.-040 hitting advantage and tied a season-high with 13 aces.

Freshman setter Cameron Ponce (San Jose, Calif.) had another solid match all away around. He notched 16 assists, five kills and seven digs. Topping all players with eight kills was senior Raheem Malone (St. Thomas, USVI).

Johnson & Wales wraps up the regular season on Saturday when it travels to Emmanuel for a tri match with the Saints and Lasell.
