Johnson & Wales was nearly flawless in the opening set as it hit .526 with 11 kills and just one error. For the match, the Wildcats had a large .275-to- -.110 advantage. The Wildcats only committed seven hitting errors, their lowest total since only hitting five balls out of bounds against Brooklyn on January 17, 2015.
The second set was the closest but the Mustangs never really threatened the JWU lead. The Mustangs were within 23-20 before kills from Raheem Malone (St. Thomas, USVI) and Kyle MacKnight (East Northport, NY) ended the set.
It was a team effort as 10 different players had at least one kill, topped by Kanila Chang (Orland, Fla.) and Cameron Ponce (San Jose, Calif.), who led the team with five each. Mount Ida did not record a single block while Johnson & Wales had eight. Brendan Baker (Providence, RI) led the way with three rejections.
