The men's volleyball team dropped a pair of decisions against Dominican (Illinois) and host Springfield in a non-conference tri-match on Saturday afternoon.  The Wildcats fell to Dominican by a score of 3-1 (25-23, 18-25, 23-25, 16-25) before wrapping up the day with a 3-0 (17-25, 22-25, 20-25) setback against Springfield.

In the loss against Dominican, Johnson & Wales was paced by junior Kyle Eva (Charlestown, R.I.) with 14 kills, one dig and one block while sophomore Brendan Baker (Providence, R.I.) notched 11 kills and five digs for the Wildcats.  Senior J.J. Bessette (Coventry, R.I.) recorded 41 set assists while junior captain Ryan Kennedy (West Barnstable, Conn.) narrowly missed a double-double with nine kills and a team-high 10 digs in the setback.  Dominican was led by Luke Spicer with 15 kills and five digs while Alex Coyne notched 49 set assists, four digs and four kills in the victory.

Baker had 11 kills, while hitting for a .381 hitting percentage, with seven digs and five blocks in the setback for Johnson & Wales against Springfield while Kennedy had 10 kills and two digs for the Wildcats.  Bessette notched 30 set assists with four digs and two kills for JWU.  Sean Zuvich paced Springfield with 20 kills, five digs and two blocks while Luis Garcia Rubio had 36 set assists in the win for the Pride.

With the two losses Johnson & Wales falls to 13-6 overall on the year.  The Wildcats will return to action on Saturday, March 14^th when they host Sage and Regis in a non-conference tri-match starting at 10:00 a.m.
