Box Score 3 The men's volleyball team posted a 2-1 record at the Kean Invitational over the weekend. The Wildcats opened play with a 3-0 (25-18, 25-22, 25-14) win over Hunter on Friday evening. JWU posted a 3-0 (25-6, 25-11, 25-12) victory against CUNY Brooklyn on Saturday morning before wrapping up the tournament with a 3-1 (10-25, 26-28, 32-30, 14-25) setback against No. 6 Kean.
In the win over Hunter, junior Ryan Kennedy (West Barnstable, Mass.) paced the Wildcats with eight kills and four assists while freshman Josh Eide (Catersville, Ga.) notched 23 set assists.
Freshman Ethan Schloss (Redding, Conn.) and sophomore Jackson Steigerwald (Penfield, N.Y.) led the way for the Wildcats against CUNY Brooklyn with nine kills apiece while junior Ambrose Hogan III (New Bedford, Mass.) registered 25 set assists in the victory.
JWU had a solid showing against the sixth ranked team and host Kean with Kennedy and senior Chris Epinola (Derry, N.H.) leading the way with 11 kills apiece. Kennedy notched a double-double as he added 11 digs in the setback. Senior J.J. Bessette (Coventry, R.I.) also had a double-double with 37 set assists and 11 digs for the Wildcats.
The Wildcats, 2-1 on the year, will return to action on Friday-Saturday, January 23-24 when they host the JWU Tip-Off Invitational. Action gets underway on Friday at 4:00 p.m. against Lesley.
