Box Score The men's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (25-19, 26-24, 25-16) decision against Emmanuel in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest at the Yawkey Center on Thursday evening.
Freshman middle hitter Julian Hess (Santa Monica, Calif.) paced Emmanuel with 12 kills on a .786 hitting percentage while senior setter Nick Updike (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) added with 36 set assists and a match-high six aces. Zach Whitermore (Whitehall, Pa.) chipped in with seven kills and a .385 hitting percentage in the win for the Saints.
Johnson & Wales was led junior middle blocker Dan Struebing (Coventry, R.I.) with a team-high five kills while junior outside hitter Shawn Kennedy (West Barnstable, Mass.) and sophomore middle hitter Don Dias (Scituate, Mass.) each added four kills. Dias also rattled off a team-high five aces while sophomore setter J.J. Bessette (Coventry, R.I.) dished out 17 assists in the loss for the Wildcats.
With the loss Johnson & Wales falls to 2-1 for the season and 1-1 in the GNAC while Emmanuel improves to 2-3 and 1-0 in league pay. The Wildcats will return to action on Monday, February 11th when they travel to Mount Ida for a GNAC contest at 6:00 p.m.
