Box Score The men's volleyball team posted a 3-1 victory against Emerson in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest at the Wildcat Center on Tuesday evening.
JWU took a 25-18 win in game one before Emerson knotted the match at 1-1 with a 25-22 win in the second game. The host Wildcats responded with a 25-19 win in game three to take the 2-1 advantage and closed out the match with a 30-28 win in game four.
Johnson & Wales was led by junior Shawn Kennedy (West Barnstable, Mass.) with 16 kills and 12 digs while sophomore Don Dias (Scituate, R.I.) added 11 kills and seven blocks in the victory. Sophomore J.J. Bessette (Coventry, R.I.) tallied 44 set assists for the Wildcats.
Freshman Alex Frapech (Woodland Hills, Calif.) paced Emerson with 16 kills and seven digs while freshman Jackson Wiley (Los Angeles, Calif.) notched 13 kills and five digs for the Lions. Freshman Brendan McGonigle (Los Angeles, Calif.) recorded 26 set assists in the setback.
With the win Johnson & Wales is now 2-0 for the season and 1-0 in the GNAC while Emerson falls to 4-4 and 1-1 in league pay. The Wildcats will return to action on Thursday, February 7th when they travel to Emmanuel for a GNAC contest at the Yawkey Center at 7:00 p.m.
