Box Score The third seeded men's volleyball team was eliminated from the 2012 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship with a 3-0 (23-25, 16-25, 21-25) loss to second seeded Emmanuel in the semifinals of the tournament at the Yawkey Center on Thursday evening.
Johnson & Wales was led by sophomore Dan Tiner (Salem, N.H.) with six kills and three digs while sophomore Dan Struebing (Coventry, R.I.) added six kills and two blocks in the loss for the Wildcats. Freshman J.J. Bessette (Coventry, R.I.) added 19 set assists and two digs for JWU.
Zach Whitermore paced Emmanuel with a match-high 17 kills and two digs while Ashanti Jackson notched 12 kills and six digs for the Saints. Nick Updike registered 41 set assists and five digs in the victory.
With the loss Johnson & Wales is now 17-17 on the season while Emmanuel improves to 17-11 for the year. The Saints will travel to host Rivier to take on the Raiders in the GNAC Championship on Saturday, April 14th.
