Box Score The third seeded men's volleyball team posted a 3-0 (25-14, 25-15, 25-22) victory against sixth seeded Emerson in the quarterfinals of the 2012 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship at the Harborside RAC on Tuesday evening.
Johnson & Wales was led by freshman Don Dias (Scituate, R.I.) with 12 kills and eight blocks while sophomore Chris Espinola (Derry, N.H.) added 10 kills, five digs and four blocks. Freshman J.J. Bessette (Coventry, R.I.) added 36 set assists and nine digs while sophomore Dan Struebing (Coventry, R.I.) tallied 10 kills and five blocks in the win for the Wildcats.
Emerson was led by freshman Connor Burton (Valencia, Calif.) with six kills and two digs while senior Stephen Selnick (Chesire, Conn.) had 19 set assists and four digs in the loss for the Lions.
With the win Johnson & Wales wraps is now 17-16 on the season while Emerson wraps up the 2012 campaign with a 10-15 mark. The Wildcats will return to action on Thursday, April 12th when they travel to second-seed Emmanuel for the semifinals of the GNAC playoffs, starting at 7:00 p.m.
