Box Score The men's volleyball squad defeated Albertus Magnus, 3-1 in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest at the Harborside Recreation Center on Thursday evening. JWU posted a 25-23 victory in game one and extended their lead to 2-0 with a 25-23 win in game two. Albertus Magnus cut the lead to 2-1 with a 25-20 victory in game three. The Wildcats wrapped up the win with a 25-21 victory in game four.
Johnson & Wales University was led by freshman Don Dias (Scituate, R.I.) with 11 kills and six blocks. Freshman J.J. Bessette (Coventry, R.I.) tallied 44 set assists with nine digs while sophomore Alex Viera (Bay Shore, N.Y.) notched 11 digs in the win for the Wildcats.
Freshman Glenn Johnson (Newington, Conn.) led the way for Albertus Magnus with 10 kills and seven digs while sophomore Carlos Torres (Maspeth, N.Y.) had 29 set assists for the Falcons.
With the win Johnson & Wales is now 13-11 on the season and 6-4 in the GNAC while Albertus Magnus falls to 15-5 overall and 3-5 in league play. The Wildcats will return to action on Friday, March 30th – Saturday, March 31st when they travel to the Vassar Invitational.
