Box Score 2 The men's volleyball team split a Great Northeast Athletic Conference tri-match on the road on Monday afternoon. The Wildcats opened the day with a 3-0 (25-11, 25-19, 25-20) win over Lasell before dropping a 3-2 (25-27, 25-15, 21-25, 25-18, 11-15) setback against host Emerson.
In the victory against Lasell, Johnson & Wales was paced by sophomore Shawn Kennedy (West Barnstable, Mass.) with 11 kills, three digs and two blocks while sophomore Dan Tiner (Salem, N.H.) had nine kills, two digs and two blocks for the Wildcats. Freshman John Bosch (West Palm Beach, Fla.) recorded 28 set assists and five digs in the victory. Lasell was led by Dan Raffol with eight kills and eight digs while Matt Dugan had 23 set assists in the setback for the Lasers.
Sophomore Chris Espinola (Derry, N.H.) led the way for the Wildcats against Emerson, recording 18 kills and five blocks while Tiner had 14 kills and five digs. Sophomore Dan Struebing (Coventry, R.I.) was also in double figures with 12 kills and four blocks for the Wildcats. Bosch recorded 55 set assists while sophomore Alex Viera (Bay Shore, N.Y.) had 12 digs in the setback. Nadav Swarttz paced Emerson with 16 kills and five digs while Stephen Seinich had 43 set assists, five digs and three kills in the win for the Lions.
With the split Johnson & Wales is now 5-7 for the season and 2-4 in the GNAC. The Wildcats will return to action on Saturday, February 25th when they travel to Newbury for a non-conference tri-match with Daniel Webster starting at 1:00 p.m.
