The men's volleyball squad dropped a 3-0 (25-19, 25-15, 25-19) decision against 12th ranked Emmanuel in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference match played in the Jean Yawkey Center on Tuesday evening.
Johnson & Wales was led by Junior Petar Yanakiev (Varna, Bulgaria) with nine kills and three blocks. Freshman Dan Struebing (Coventry, R.I.) added five kills and three blocks while fellow rookie Gerard Daniels (Miami, Fla.) had 25 assists and three blocks in the setback for the Wildcats.
Curtis Abram led Emmanuel with nine kills and seven service aces. Matt Salvi added eight kills and three blocks. Sean O'Connor and Nick Updike combined for 37 assists in the victory for the Saints.
With the win Emmanuel is now 23-6 on the season and 11-1 in GNAC play, while Johnson & Wales to 6-9 overall and 3-5 in the league. The Wildcats will return to action on Thursday, March 17th when they host Emerson and Albertus Magnus in a GNAC tri-match, starting at 5:30 p.m.
